Just because you know something, it doesn't mean your audience does too...
We recently went to a pub quiz night and were completely stumped by a sporty question. (As we always are.)
We had to decipher an anagram to work out the name of a famous golfer.
(It would have been easier to fly to the moon.)
The guy in charge came over to our table and said, 'Come on! You knoooow this!'
We insisted that we *really* didn't.
But he carried on, 'No, you do! Everyone knows this.'
Alas, we did not.
We got to a point where were just trying to form any kind of name from the collection of letters. We went with 'Len McPhosilik'(..?) or something similar.
The answer turned out to be 'Phil Mickelson'.
The guy was completely shocked that we had no idea who this Phil was. It was something *so obvious* to him that he assumed everyone else must know it too.
AND that's why it helps to have someone on the outside look in at your business!
Are you inadvertently putting your audience off by assuming they know something (when actually they don't)?
