How do I write in your tone of voice?
Firstly, we need to establish whether you're happy with your current tone of voice and want me to continue with it, or if it needs a revamp.
In either case, I'll study your current copy across your channels to get a sense of your tone and brand personality. If we're sticking with the current tone, I might note down a few phrases that tend to pop up a lot, as a sort of mini guideline.
If we're changing the tone of voice, we'll discuss what you don't like about the current one, and what you want the new one to be like.
But how do you pin down a tone? Isn't that like describing a colour!?
One of the places I like to start is to get you to imagine your brand as a person...
💠What would they be like?
💠How would you describe them?
💠What sort of words would they use?
💠Which ones would they *definitely not* use?
I'll ask you a few more questions (usually over good ol' Zoom) so I can really dig deep to find out who your audience is, what they're like, and the sort of language we need to use to really connect with them.
And of course, once you've seen my copy, you'll be able to suggest changes until we get it sounding exactly how you want it to.
(PS I'm not going to write the word 'tone' for a while)
