You win more flies with honey than with vinegar (as my mother would say)
Most emails people receive are about trying to sell them something.
Around specific seasonal events, these emails can become a bit of a nightmare, and can make you bored of the season before it's even begun. (Does anyone actually want Christmas emails in October!? I know I don't. At least get Halloween out of the way first. Come on, man.)
Some of your customers might not want to be bamboozled with emails about a specific season or occasion coming up, so the copy in this email works well because it's thoughtful. They're putting the needs of the customer before the possibility of making a sale. Valentine's Day can be hard for so many people for so many reasons, so sometimes you need to show your humanity, without thinking about sales.
The use of the word 'us' is considerate because it shows that the company knows how the customer feels, on a personal level, making them relatable. And you never know, this act of kindness might make the customer want to spend more money with them in the future.
This company isn't trying to ram Valentine's Day stock down your neck - they're taking the time (and effort) to allow you to opt-out of the emails if you want to.
It's a small gesture, but it's meaningful, and will resonate with customers. ❤️
